We’re looking for a warm, fun and energetic male babysitter/manny to become a regular part of our family’s support network and spend time with our two children, aged 8 and 10.
We’d particularly love to find someone who genuinely enjoys hanging out with kids and is happy getting outdoors and doing active things — kicking a soccer ball or footy, shooting hoops, bike rides, trips to the park, swimming, or whatever the kids are interested in. Our 8-year-old son would especially benefit from someone who can help him build confidence with ball sports in a really casual, fun way — we’re definitely not looking for formal coaching!
Our 10-year-old daughter may sometimes want to join in and at other times do her own thing, so we’re looking for someone who is equally happy spending time with both kids and following their interests.
Both children have lots of interests beyond sport and we’d love someone who can just enjoy being with them — whether that means Minecraft, Lego, drawing, playing games, going on an outing or having a kick at the park.
This isn’t intended to be a super-structured role. We’re really looking for the right person: someone kind, responsible, engaged and playful who could ideally build a great ongoing relationship with the kids. It could suit a uni student, teacher/PE teacher in training, sports coach or someone already working with children.
Initially we’re thinking a few hours once or twice a week, with flexibility for additional babysitting, weekends and school holidays if it suits everyone.
A current Working With Children Check is essential, and we’d also require references and a police check. A driver’s licence, first aid qualification and previous experience with primary-school-aged children would be highly regarded.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone reliable and trustworthy who really likes kids and will make spending time together feel like fun rather than another organised activity.
