Hi my name is Lorna. I am 26 years old and I am from Galway in Ireland. I have just moved over to st kildas in Melbourne and I am on a working holiday visa. I wanted to move to Australia for a change and to experience a new adventure in my career. I have a level 8 bachelors degree in social care, and a level 6 degree in a special Educational needs and I have worked as a play instructor in a children’s play facility. I have worked with primary school aged children, and have a passion for working with children. My role was to help support them and guide them, on how to make the learning more interesting and appealing for them to take part in. For example, using visual signs and pictures, using audio learning, building blocks and visual learning games etc, with the child. My role as a play instructor, in the children’s play facility, Working in the baile beag play area, involves a play area that is built for children to play and explore their imagination in. As part of this job, I had to make sure that all children got to play in safe environment that is monitored at all times and that everyone feels safe. In the village there was a little café so I would use the pretend food and utensils to show the children how to cook, and how to use their imaginative skills. I would love to have the opportunity to work as a childminder here in Australia and would to gain a new experience.
