Meet Alice: A nanny and babysitter in Glen Iris, VIC

Hello! My name is Alice (Ali), I'm 18 years old, and currently residing in Glen Iris. I recently graduated from Melbourne Girls Grammar and have now commenced a double degree this year; a Bachelor of Science, majoring in botany, and a Bachelor of Global Studies at Monash University Clayton. I am currently working at Lauriston Girls School in Armadale as a swim teacher, in the 'Learn to Swim' program where I work with a range of children, aged 3 -12 years old. With this job I have gained a wide range of experience working with children of all abilities and learning requirements, such as with children who have ADHD. I further assist with the nippers program, "Surf Rescue Certificate" program, and the"Bronze Medallion" program at Fairhaven Surf Lifesaving club, where I educate children aged 4-15 years old about how to stay safe and protect others in the ocean environment. I have also worked as a casual babysitter since the age of 13 to multiple different families, with children usually aged 2-10 years old. I also have experience looking after children under 18 months old, where I have changed nappies, settled babies for naps, as well as feeding times.

I have a passion for caring for children, and my goal is to create a fun, playful environment where children can feel safe and comfortable around me. I have a close relationship with my cousin who is 7 years old, and love to do a range of fun activities with him, such as zoo adventures, walks in the park, games in the playground, and my favourite; story times! When caring for children I love to plan activities to help enrich their experiences, and further strengthen a familiarity around me as their carer.

Furthermore, I am currently tutoring VCE units 3/4 in English Language, as well as have in the past assisted younger students (year 1- year 12), in maths, science and english. I would love to incorporate learning into my nannying if needed! I have a passion for teaching others, particularly children, as I love working out together how we can learn new, tricky things, and succeed in overcoming challenges!
