Meet Olivia: A nanny and babysitter in Stanmore, NSW

I’m a compassionate, kind and empathetic person who genuinely enjoys working with children and supporting families. I have around 10 years of experience across child development, youth work, community services and government-funded organisations, working with children, young people and families in a range of settings.

I hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Diploma of Community Services and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, all completed through TAFE. I have also recently completed a Diploma of Sustainable Living and am continuing to learn and develop my knowledge in sustainability.

My work experience has given me a strong understanding of trauma-informed care, child safety, duty of care, client-centred practice and strengths-based approaches. I believe every child is different, so I like to understand what they enjoy, what they're good at and what makes them feel comfortable. I then tailor the way I work around the individual child.

I have worked across State Government, Local Government and government-funded and community organisations, including the Australian Red Cross Young Parents Program and a residential facility supporting teenagers with babies. These experiences have involved working in environments where child safety, responsibility, boundaries and duty of care are extremely important.

I also have personal experience caring for children of different ages. I have two younger sisters who came into our family when I was 15, so caring for children and being involved in family life has been a part of my life for a long time.

I have a Surf Life Saving background and am a strong swimmer, with relevant water-safety and First Aid experience. I’m comfortable around water and understand the importance of being vigilant and responsible when caring for children.

Outside of my professional experience, I’m a very creative and curious person. I enjoy sustainability, gardening and permaculture, and have a background in textiles. I love arts and crafts, painting, collaging, cooking and baking, reading, getting outdoors and trying different sports. I’m very much an all-rounder and am always happy to give something new a go.

I also understand how busy working households can be. For me, the role is about making parents' lives easier, while providing children with someone who is caring, reliable, responsible and engaged. I’m happy to follow the routines and structure that work for your family, communicate clearly with parents and work collaboratively with you.

Whether it’s helping with homework, getting outside, creating something together, preparing food, playing a game, attending activities or simply being a supportive and reliable person for your child, I enjoy being involved and getting to know what makes each child tick.
