I previously worked as an au pair in the United States, where I looked after the kids and helped with their daily routines, school drop-offs and pick-ups, homework, playtime, and just the general flow of the household. I absolutely loved the experience. Spending that much time with children means you really become part of their world, and they become part of yours too.
Something that means a lot to me is that I’m still very close with my host family. For me, working with kids rarely feels like a job, they really do become part of my extended family.
I’m a pretty energetic and hands-on person, and I enjoy doing things with kids rather than just supervising, crafts, games, imaginative play, helping with homework, or getting outside and keeping them engaged.
I’m also a very private and respectful person, and because I’ve lived and worked inside a family home before, I completely understand that balance families need, having someone help and support the household while still respecting their space and privacy.
Since my au pair year I’ve continued travelling and living abroad, and I’ve been in Australia for a few years now. Those experiences have made me really adaptable and comfortable working with different families and routines.
