Hi, I’m Lydia! I’m 23 and originally from Wales, and I’m currently in Australia on a working holiday visa after travelling the amazing East Coast. I’m excited to settle for a while and continue doing the work I love most, caring for children and becoming part of a family’s support system.
I’m a very active person and love running, swimming, hiking and yoga. When I’m not outdoors, you’ll usually find me reading, journaling, baking or cooking. These are all activities I enjoy sharing with the children I look after, whether that’s helping them build confidence in the water, creating nature-inspired adventures, baking something fun together, or winding down with a calm storytime.
I’ve babysat locally at home for a range of ages, from toddlers to early teens, which taught me how to adapt to different personalities and needs. Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to be an au pair in Paris for an 8-year-old girl. It was a life-changing experience that helped me grow a lot as a carer, from navigating routines and school schedules to supporting her emotionally while living abroad. I’m still in close contact with the family, which I think reflects the strong, genuine bonds I build with the children I care for.
What’s most important to me is creating a relationship that feels sibling-like in warmth, but also clear in boundaries and respect. I love sharing my interests and passions with children, and equally love learning from them, whether it’s discovering their hobbies, exploring their imagination, or supporting their unique personalities. I believe a nanny and child should both learn from each other and grow together.
I consider being a nanny a fundamental role in a child’s development. You become part of their everyday world, their memories, and the little moments that shape who they are. I always aim to leave a positive impact, create a safe and happy environment, and bring calm, fun, and kindness into their routines.
I’d love the chance to bring that same energy and care to a family here in Australia.
