I am now highly competent when it comes to changing a baby, toddler or child safely, managing safe mealtimes for children of all ages, safely putting a baby, toddler or child down to sleep (and constantly monitoring them whilst they slept) and monitoring babies and toddlers whilst they play, allowing them to discover their surroundings independently whilst supporting them and constantly remaining vigilant to their movements, amongst many other areas of baby care. Furthermore, it was always so wonderful to see the children progress in their confidence, and supporting the parents in any way we could was so important to me. Constant communication with the parents enabled me to understand the children in our care, helping us to adapt in any way we could do accommodate the child’s needs whilst making sure they developed socially alongside their peers. I enjoy a range of sports, and consider myself to be a very sporty person; I was described by a previous employer at my most recent job as having ‘a constant abundance of energy and joy’ and at the nursery I worked at, I loved spending time being active in the garden with the children. I am also an extremely vigilant person and always regard the safety of a child/children in my care extremely highly; I previously worked as a lifeguard, and the role enforced for me the importance of being attentive, alert, aware and cautious in the workplace.
