Looking for: Full-time
Hi, my name is Joy and I am a qualified primary school teacher from the UK. I have a younger brother who has two adorable, but cheeky children who I have had the pleasure to help raise in my hometown. Currently, I am working in a school in Melbourne with a child who has ASD and I enjoy being able to support their learning and development through the sessions I spend with them. Due to the limited hours of this role, I am available to offer my nannying services to families in need of some help with their young ones.
I have worked as a primary teacher for almost 4 years, and have had the enjoyment of getting to know and teach up to 30 children per class. My positive rapport with students and their families has consistently been recognized by my senior leadership team. I believe in creating a nurturing and engaging environment for children and this translates into everyday life when I have babysat my niece and nephew or worked at summer camps and after school care. I take the time to understand the children in my care’s interests and passions. This has allowed me to plan exciting activities both inside and outside the classroom, such as museum visits, cinema outings, and art workshops which means I’m no stranger to looking after children in different setting and joining in on all the fun!
Even though these outing are exciting, my primary focus is always on the safety and well-being of the children in my care, creating a nurturing and supportive environment where they feel comfortable and secure. I pride myself in being a fun, warm, and caring individual who is always there to listen when children are upset and need to talk.
I enjoy spending time outdoors as I know it’s very important for children to be outside and explore their surroundings. I am always up for taking children on nature walks or to the park to get a bit of fresh air and stretch their legs from a long day at school. To limit screen time, I encourage engaging activities like arts and crafts, puzzles, and imaginative play.
During my career, I have also privately tutored children which has been a great opportunity to help individuals progress in their learning and assisting parents in understanding their child's academic progress. This is something I could also help with during my time with your family.
I work with children aged between 0 and 12 and I am available during the week from 6-7. During the holidays, I will also be available.
I am eager to bring my skills and enthusiasm to a new family and create lasting memories together!
