Meet Carla: A nanny and babysitter in Altona Meadows, VIC

I have grown up with younger siblings and caring for children has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was at school I would baby sit the neighbourhood children and help organise and run their birthday parties. At university I lived with a family and cared for their young daughter in exchange for board. I have looked after people with disabilities and elderly people while in NZ. In Australia I have been a housekeeper and nanny for the last 10 years. I am responsible and practical but also think having fun in the everyday is very important. I make fun out of whatever I have on hand or out of any tasks that need completing. I believe that connection and kindness builds happy, contented children and my gaol is always to establish a respectful and safe relationship where the child can feel secure while their parent is a work. I have built on going friendships from the amazing families I have worked for and this really makes my work fulfilling.
