Meet Jemma: A nanny and babysitter in Mount Barker, SA

My name is Jemma and I am 34 years of age. I have worked with children of all ages ranging from newborn babies all the way up to 15 years of age. I have experience working in many different areas such as nanny care, before and after school care, crèche care, volunteer work in a primary school, childcare, working with children under the guardianship of the minister, as well as many years of babysitting.

I was born and raised in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. I am the youngest of four daughters, and I come from a very large extended family. I am very close with my family, particularly my sisters and cousins. I strongly believe that family is the most important thing and I am very proud and feel very blessed to be a part of my family.

I consider myself to be an outgoing and fun-loving Child Care Worker who enjoys spending as much time as possible outside and taking the children on trips to places like the park or library. I also enjoy spending one on one time with the children, which can include reading with them, or participating in craft activities with them.

One of my favourite things about being a nanny/babysitter is being able to teach children new skills and giving them lots of praise so they can confidently grow and develop into the best people they can be.

I always keep a clean and tidy home and happy to help around the house with vacuuming and doing laundry etc.

I love working with children and have always had a natural connection with them. I enjoy creating strong bonds and unique relationships with all the children I care for. I love the fact that no child is alike and that all children I work with have different abilities and skills. I know that with the right love, affection and support, every child can achieve great things.

I have a very relaxed personality, but I am a very active person and I enjoy exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. Some of my other interests include spending time outside, dancing and music, watching foreign films and creative writing.

I am an honest and reliable person who has strong values and morals. I believe that no matter where you come from, everyone is equal and deserves to be given the same opportunities. I am a loving friend who enjoys encouraging and supporting the people around me.

Out of all my child related experiences, being a nannying/babysittering is by far the most rewarding work I have done. It is a wonderful thing to be invited into a family’s home and I look forward to the next opportunity I will have to do this, with great anticipation.
