Hello! My name is Rachael, and I just recently moved to Sydney from the United States. I'm working on my Master's in Educational Psychology at the University of Sydney, and I could not be more excited.
I have approximately 6 years of experience working with children -- I was a private music teacher for 3.5 years (working mostly with children 5-12 y/o), then I moved into a more clinical role as a behavior technician in an Autism clinic in Texas, U.S.A. where I serviced children primarily between the ages of 2-8 y/o in a daycare-like setting. I do have recent CPR training!
I learned a lot about children from my work as a behavior technician -- rapport building, creative play, patience, different ways of communicating, and time management. But most importantly, I learned how to see children as autonomous individuals who deserve a voice in decisions related to their well-being.
In order to balance Uni studies and work, I'm primarily looking for part time work, either mornings or afternoons, or working only 2-3 full days/week.
I look forward to meeting you all!
